Criteria Conformance Level Remarks and Explanations VoiceOver NVDA
1.1.1 Non-text Content (Level A) Partially Supports Click to view

Fail: some decorative images such as the svg icons on the intro page are seen by screen readers and have no alt text

Situation F: If the non-text content should be ignored by assistive technology

H67: Using null alt text and no title attribute on img elements for images that assistive technology should ignore

  • In my testing, VoiceOver could still detect svg even with empty alt text.
    • Suggested Solution (if marking as "decoration"):
      • Use aria-hidden="true"
      • OR change svg to <img> and use svg url for src with empty alt text with no title attribute (Source)
      • I did try using role="img" and empty alt text but it didn't seem to work (this was just done via Inspector though so maybe further testing is needed if this is the preferred method)

1.2.1 Audio-only and Video-only (Prerecorded) (Level A) Not Applicable
There is no audio or pre-recorded video provided directly by this tool.
1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded) (Level A) Not Applicable
---
1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative (Prerecorded) (Level A) Not Applicable
---
1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A) Partially Supports

Fail: directional or vague language; specifically "Learn More" and "here"

F14: Failure of Success Criterion 1.3.3 due to identifying content only by its shape or location

  • On the "All Barriers" tab inside the "Barrier Information" text box, the text at the bottom right says "Learn More."
    • Visually and tabually, the text directly follows the description of the barrier and is generally understandable, but perhaps adding an aria-label that tells the user it will open a pop up could be beneficial? When I used VO to open it, it announced the heading text only and then focused on the x/close button. This might be confusing if you don't know it's a pop-up.
  • On the "All Barriers" tab for "Files Should Be Reviewed for Accessibility," when you click on a file, the box with the heading "How to Repair this Barrier" says "If necessary, replace the current version of this file here:"
